What We Offer
At Kelly’s Home our Program is designed to help young adults grow into their best selves, to help them envision possibilities for their lives, and to believe that their dreams are attainable if they set goals and work hard to achieve them. It is also intended to teach and/or reinforce the concepts of responsibility,
respect, integrity, friendship, and love (for themselves and others).
We will do this by offering services such as Home Management, Life Coaching, Job Training, Counseling, Meditation, and Volunteering.
Housing
Having a safe place to live is an essential foundation to everything Kelly’s Home is about. Young adults (members) will have a place to call home while they are working through the program and transitioning into the next phase of their lives. Members who choose to stay at Kelly’s Home will be choosing to live by guidelines which are intended to foster a peaceful co-dwelling with other members.
Work / Life Training
Work Training will revolve around helping members understand how to create and update a resume, how to apply for jobs, tips for interviewing (and even mock interviews). Further, the program will seek to align members with no-cost job training in areas they are interested in and assistance connecting with employers who are hiring after they have completed the training.
Life Training will mean members receive coaching about etiquette, considering others, professionalism, goal setting, and even how to perform common necessary tasks like keeping identification cards current, financial coaching around bank accounts, saving, and investing.
Managing a home comes with many responsibilities and challenges. Young adults will play an equal and active role in maturing as they learn to manage the home, sharing tasks such as cleaning, cooking, potentially tending a garden, taking care of a plants in the home, and maybe even caring for a pet! There will be a “Resident Assistance” designated member who will oversee the activities of the members.
Counseling
Every person will go through an intake evaluation to assess their specific needs. Members who stay at Kelly’s Home will need various types of counseling, depending on their unique situation and lived experiences. Counseling will be provided as part of a holistic approach to healing, acceptance, and a strong emotional foundation. Other techniques such as meditation, yoga and exercise, and journaling will be taught and encouraged.
Support and Community
Support for Kelly’s Home members will come in many forms. Regular discussions about goals and progress will be a part of the program with each of the members. Young women will be encouraged to not only live together, but also grow together and support one another. Volunteering will play an important role in teaching members how to give back to others and also grow in community as they are achieving things together for a greater good.
Members will also need support with transportation, clothing and hygiene items, and even obtaining any documentation they may need such as birth certificates, social security and ID cards, insurance if they are driving, etc.
